Hey guys! Hope you are doing good 🙂

Yay, it’s getting warmer and I can take all my lovely flower dresses out of the wardrobe again 🙂 Finally, it’s not too cold for tights and a light jacket. And adding in these wonderful jewelry pieces from Swarovski from their spring collection… And huh, me wearing a choker… I don’t know what to think about the trend… Nice, but not too much my style 😉 Even though the glittery flowerdust fits 😉 Well, I’d say the shoes I got in the sale a long time ago 🙂 And for sure adding in beloved pieces as my vintage bag 🙂 But now let’s get a

I’ve been thinking about this topic for a while and as a Fashion lover I’ve been asking that myself a lot… Getting more and more into Yoga and spiritual readings the question came up, if you can still be spiritual without giving up on the whole lifestyle you built your identity on?  I’ve found it pretty challenging trying to incorporate spirituality into an industry that is known for its superficial mentality. Having style and making a career out of it takes work and it’s not easy to get all caught up in comparison and consumption and be seen as completely materialistic.

With all the Online inspiration and especially Instagram with it’s photography based profile settings enhance the need to create an idealistic self and presenting the latest products or shooting at the most amazing locations… it’s easy to get materialistic and judge other people on their appearance and brands they wear. And that’s basically also what happens when attending any fashion related events…. (scan from top to toe… opinion…check)

Lately rather than making me feel bad because of that, I started decluttering my wardrobe and packing clothes into boxes for the next flea market or gift them to friends. And in the end I fell happier and relieved. Back to the topic: So how does one stay sane in an insanely fast paced environment based on the acquisition of things (namely new trends)?

Be grateful

I’ve talked about gratitude so much only because it’s so crucial to your success in life. I appreciate everything I get for free as a blogger but do know exactly that with this gesture a little effort from my side is very welcome too. And if I really want something I now that I can buy it myself, but actually often it’s good to ask first: Do I really need it?

Be creative with fashion

It’s crazy and sad that in some countries women still are not allowed to wear pants or express themselves according to their beliefs.  In some places fashion can mean death for you 🙁  So therefore I am very grateful that I can use fashion as a outlet of self-expression. With the clothes I can be creative and show the world a piece of myself and express my feelings.

Don’t compare, compliment

It’s so easy to compare yourself to others doing better and looking better with all the social media. So instead of comparing try complimenting. How good do you feel when someone compliments you, especially on your appearance? We’re all wired with insecurities, so complimenting one another definitely lessens the negative self-talk. I try to compliment someone on their appearance but far more I compliment on their good looking attitude or happy smile.

Shop smarter, not harder

Some people simply go shopping to acquire more in the hope to seek happiness. We know that it will never work. Happiness comes from the inside not outside. How many times did I go shopping and in the end I felt guilty and sad about the amount I spent for actually just materialistic things? (More than once). Therefore, it’s good to stay up informed with the latest trends. But more by adding a piece now and then to your existing wardrobe and trying to be more creative with the clothes you have.

Meditate on happiness

Every morning I I try to get on the mat and give thanks to the world for another day. No matter what is the schedule for the day is, being grateful for your life and seeking more happiness from within sets a good starting point for the daily challenges. Then the day flows with more ease and contentment.
