“Sometimes you find yourself in the middle of nowhere and sometimes in the middle of nowhere you find yourself.” – Bradley Chapman
Feeling overwhelmed? Need some fresh air? Or just looking to do something different from your regular routine? Why not changing your city environment for the beauty of nature? Take a hike! No matter where but go outside and breathe in the fresh air.
The feeling of climbing or hiking to the top of a mountain is absolutely empowering, congruent to conquering real-life obstacles. And it’s even more beautiful when you reach a waterfall and drown in fresh air. If you’re still not convinced that you need to go for a hike this weekend! The reasons could be the following and which I find really convincing and definitely worth leaving the house 😉
Nothing beats real fresh air
From the crisp breeze grazing your face or the warmth of the sun chafing your skin and warming the cockles of your heart, you’ll just (no doubt) feel amazing, less stressed, and redeemed – especially if you live in a city. So take some time to escape the urban noise and pollution…your lungs and sanity will thank you for it later.
Clear your mind
Hiking is also an amazing form of meditation. The solitude allows you to feel a sense of awe-inspiring peace and accomplishment by taking in all the beauty around you. It definitely helps me clear my mind of the normal day-to-day stresses and focus on myself. Take advantage of the isolation and reflect on your life, values, and priorities – what’s most important to you?
Again, Reduces Stress
If you’re like me and can be overwhelmed and stressed, hiking is perfect to shave the anxious feelings. There’s something about being surrounded by nature that transmits you into a relaxed state and puts you at ease. Once you’re out there, there’s nothing else to do than simply exist and listen inside.
Being in company
Hiking alone can really help clearing your mind but also a great company can enrich this outside experience. Valuable conversations and the feeling of a hearing soul is so nourishing to escape the daily stress levels. It can also be fun and to join a group you didn’t know before. You definitely need to get out of your comfort zone but nevertheless the fun is worth it 🙂
Raise your activity level
Lastly… Ok this is more of a plus… Are you sick of engaging in the same gym routine? You already know this: Hiking is the perfect activity to break up the banality. Climb a mountain or bike down a trail to get your heart rate up without feeling like you’re exercising.
So what are you waiting for? What is your weekend plan?
